Aldeyjarfoss Waterfall in Iceland

Mývatn and the Arctic Henge

On days three through five around Iceland, I visited Detifoss (Europe’s most powerful waterfall), Godafoss, Aldeyjarfoss, Grafarkirkja Church (the oldest church in Iceland), Grjótagjá Cave (Jon Snow cave), the Hverfjall Crater, the Hvitserkur Sea Stack, and the Arctic henge.

While most of these places are fairly well known to those traveling around the Ring Road, located in Raufarhöfn (one of Iceland’s most remote and northernmost villages), the Arctic Henge is near the coast, just below the Arctic Circle. It’s the sister to Stonehenge, and while it’s still under construction, it acts as a sundial, casting shadows and capturing light filtering through photogenically aligned gateways.

Here are some of my favorite shots from those days.
